City of Saskatoon: Update on E-Scooters
The Province has formalized regulations around the use of electric scooters in the province: New regulations enable municipalities to allow e-scooters on roads.
This may generate questions about what this means for e-scooters in Saskatoon. According to the City: “E-scooter use is still subject to the municipality having a bylaw in place, which we do not yet have in Saskatoon.”
Here is some information regarding the City of Saskatoon’s shared e-scooter program pilot project
- Currently in phase 2 of the project, which involves public engagement to collect feedback on the draft regulatory framework: Shared Electric Scooter Program Pilot highlights (PDF).
- Feedback can be provided on the E-scooter Pilot Project Engage Page by September 29, 2022.
- The proposed framework for a pilot project, summary of the public engagement, recommendations and next steps is currently scheduled to be presented this fall at the Standing Policy Committee on Transportation.
A two-year pilot of a shared e-scooter program is proposed for 2023, subject to City bylaw amendments.
