COVID Mandates and Protocols Set to End in February

Today the province announced its plan to end the Proof of Vaccination or Negative Test policy on February 14th along with the end of the public health order effective February 28th.

Effective February 14th businesses that are currently mandated to require proof of vaccination or a negative test will no longer be required to take this measure. Legal protections and access to the Vax Verifier technology will no longer be available to businesses after this date.

Effective February 28th the mandate requiring the use of masks, self-isolation for positive cases and partially-vaccinated close contacts will be lifted. As business owners and employers, you are free to continue to implement masking, distancing and rapid testing in your business and are welcome to do so based on the risk tolerance of your employees and customers.

Based on the feedback we received from Members, a phased out approach to the Proof of Vaccination or Negative Test policy would have been preferred to enable businesses to transition back to normal operations.

We respect the decision of policymakers and CMHO officials to lift these mandates. It is a positive sign that we have moved into a different phase of the pandemic.
